On June 16th 2025, law students from the Faculty of Law’s Manitoba Legal Clinic for the Arts presented to the Mid-Ocean School of Media Arts’ (MOSMA) class of 2025 about a few different areas of the legal world they may encounter over their careers. From May 7 -9, the Manitoba Legal Clinic for the Arts participated in the Northern Arts & Food Workshop, in Thompson, Manitoba. Hosted at University College of the North (UCN) in partnership with Creative Manitoba and the imagiNorthern Network the purpose of this event was to explore cultivating a strong, resilient creative economy that honours the diverse cultures, traditions, and talents of Northern Manitoba.

Empowering Creators, Entrepreneurs and Innovators

July 26, 2024 — 
The University of Manitoba Faculty of Law has been named one of three law school recipients of a grant under the the Intellectual Property Clinics Program, which promotes intellectual property education, awareness, and capacity building. The Honourable François-Philippe Champagne, Minister of Innovation, Science and Industry, announced the 2023–2024 recipients of support on May 1, 2024. The grant will support the L. Kerry Vickar Business Law Clinic and Manitoba Legal Clinic for the Arts and be used to enhance IP training for law students participating in these Clinics at the Faculty of Law.

Legislature’s Arts & Culture Day a learning opportunity for UM arts legal clinic summer students

July 8, 2024 — 
On May 30, 2024, law students from the Manitoba Legal Clinic for the Arts attended Arts & Culture Day at the Legislature, hosted by Manitobans for the Arts. This marked the first time in eight years that the event was held, bringing together lawmakers, artists, arts and culture organizations, and arts supporters. The law students had the unique opportunity to connect with many of the amazing individuals who contribute to Manitoba’s vibrant arts scene.

From March 24-27, law students from the Manitoba Legal Clinic for the Arts and L. Kerry Vickar Business Law Clinic attended the second annual Northern Arts & Food Workshop hosted at University College of the North in The Pas. While in The Pas students stayed on the Opaskwayak Cree Nation (OCN) at Kikiwak Inn. Learn about OCN and inspiring plans for the Opaskwayak community.
