On June 16th 2025, law students from the Faculty of Law’s Manitoba Legal Clinic for the Arts presented to the Mid-Ocean School of Media Arts’ (MOSMA) class of 2025 about a few different areas of the legal world they may encounter over their careers. From May 7 -9, the Manitoba Legal Clinic for the Arts participated in the Northern Arts & Food Workshop, in Thompson, Manitoba. Hosted at University College of the North (UCN) in partnership with Creative Manitoba and the imagiNorthern Network the purpose of this event was to explore cultivating a strong, resilient creative economy that honours the diverse cultures, traditions, and talents of Northern Manitoba.

Where IP and Business Law connect

On November 27, 2024, two third-year law students, Nicholas Ly (3L) and Jordan Wagner (3L) [BComm(Hons)/2022] , from the Faculty of Law’s L. Kerry Vickar Business Law Clinic, delivered an insightful presentation at the Faculty of Law to fellow students. This event, entitled "Where IP and Business Law Connect", was hosted by the Manitoba Law Student Association’s, Intellectual Property and Technology Law Group and the Business Law Group. The presentation highlighted the critical intersections between intellectual property (IP) and business law.

L. Kerry Vickar inspires legal minds at UM Business Law Clinic

On October 11, 2024, law students at the University of Manitoba’s L. Kerry Vickar Business Law Clinic had the unique opportunity to meet in person with the Clinic’s benefactor, L. Kerry Vickar [LLB/1980], and his wife, Simone Vickar. This visit allowed students to showcase what they’ve learned through the Clinic and to gain insights from an alum whose entrepreneurial vision has helped shaped their legal education.

Collaborative Pathways: Visionary Indigenous Business Excellence (VIBE) Awards

On November 14, 2024, students from the L. Kerry Vickar Business Law Clinic and the Indigenous Business Education Partners (IBEP) at the Asper School of Business came together at the RBC Convention Centre in Winnipeg to celebrate the 18th annual Visionary Indigenous Business Excellence (VIBE) Awards. The event, hosted by IBEP, coincided with the 30th anniversary of IBEP, marking three decades of fostering community, education, and Indigenous business leadership.
